Entrepreneurial George Washington Hires Glenn Beck
Dear Glenn,
Welcome to www.GlennBeckForHire.com! I've created this website because true leaders like George Washington don't wait for things to happen in their lives. True leaders go out there and MAKE things happen. So that is what I am doing. I'm putting myself out there and trying to make it happen. So to get to the point, why do you need me?
The reason you need me is that I believe that I am the missing piece to the grand puzzle you are putting together. You once said on your Fox show that you believed that it was going to be the small business owner and the entrepreneurs that would be the ones to help turn our country around and begin to right our economic turmoil. I wholeheartedly believe that this is true and I believe that I am the person who can provide the missing piece to the puzzle that will help bring entrepreneurs and small business owners together and give them a venue to communicate and advertise themselves and their businesses. Before I tell you "how" though, first you have to know "who".
I am an entrepreneur. From the moment that my father had me looking for golf balls on the golf course and selling them on the 13th hole of the local country club (which was right on the tee box hitting over a huge canyon), I have been an entrepreneur. I remember the crazy business ideas that I would come up with and tell my dad. He would humor me and we'd sit and talk about how we would accomplish them. I remember the gleam in his eyes when he would talk about the ideas he had, even the ideas that he failed at. One idea in particular sticks out because he told it to me after I found a secret stash of snow sleds in our basement area and tried to ride down the hill in our backyard. Even on a 45 degree plus slope, those sleds wouldn't slide down the hill. I remember him catching me trying to ride it and then telling me about how he and a friend had designed and then manufactured these sleds and when they went to test them out before bringing them to market how horrible a failure they were.
He taught me that day never to give up even when you fail, because each failure brings you closer to success. That point was especially driven home when I realized that he had given up on his entrepreneurial dreams and it gradually took the gleam out of his eyes.
By the time I started college, the tune had changed somewhat and now the talk became all about how I needed to get my degree, find a job with a pension, work for 40 years, save for retirement and then . . . retire. This complete change was a real slap in the face, especially when I read Robert Kiyosaki's "Rich Dad, Poor Dad". Well, I did what I was told and received a BS in Human Resources from The University of Arizona. Five months after graduating and while looking for a job in HR, my dad had a massive heart attack and died. He had just spent 2 great weeks on vacation, read 3 books, came home more relaxed than he had ever been and after his first day back at his high stress job, he died.
Something snapped in me that day and I remembered that gleam in his eye when he use to talk about his entrepreneurial ideas and plans for the future. It was that day I became an entrepreneur again.
Have some of my business ideas failed? You bet they have. But not all of them, and I have never given up trying. The day I became an entrepreneur again I went out and got my insurance license and sold insurance for 5 years. Was I great at it? Not particularly, but it paid the bills and put food on the table. I also started a business with my wife called "More Than Memories" where I took the flowers from weddings, funerals, special occasions, etc. and made dried floral arrangements out of them so that my customers could keep that memory with them in a nice arrangement. My wife at the time was the creative "arrangement" person and unfortunately she wasn't supportive of the instability of running a business.
Since that time, I moved back to California to help with family and I have been a school teacher (6th-12th), an Insurance broker (again), a retail customer service manager, a golf instructor and then through the grace of God I found my REAL passion as an entrepreneur. You see, through every business idea, failure and success, I did one thing consistently. I networked with as many people as possible. I joined the Chamber of Commerce and every networking group that I could become a part of. I was in Business Networking International (BNI), the Relationship Building Network (RBN), FORE Networking (where business owners network on the golf course) and in Tucson I even started my own networking group called "Tips for Tucson". I was dialed into all of the small business owners and what their needs were in the areas that I lived.
And I discovered the two things that are missing from your organization that every small business owner is doing and needs; Networking and cost effective advertising. I realized that after YEARS of networking with these small business owners, they were all there for the same reason. They couldn't afford the outrageous cost of advertising through conventional means like the Yellow Pages, Magazines or Radio (no offense but most of the little guys can't afford you) and their only outlet to get their names out there was to go face to face with other business owners and rely on referral business.
When I realized this simple but obvious fact I thought that there had to be a better way. So I created it from scratch. I built my own business directory that combines all the elements of a Chamber of Commerce and a Networking Group and I put the control into the hands of the business owner so that they could make changes 24/7 (through their own Login and user interface) and not have to rely on any big advertising company to do it for them. It gives the business owner the power to add contact information, picture, bio, 30 second audio (elevator) commercial, PowerPoint and video commercial. It has a rating system built in for customer comments and feedback. And through our Facebook interface, people can easily set up their pages. We even have tutorials on creating and linking their own Facebook business pages so that they can use Social Media to help advertise their business as well. But the kicker is that BizClickr also enables them to add all the other businesses that they refer to and vice-versa. By doing this it gives instant credibility to the business because the customers will be able to check references with the other businesses that are referring.
The site is called BizClickr.com (click for link) and could easily become the new MercuryOne.biz.
This is the missing link and the connection that you need to help entrepreneurs and business owners succeed and begin the restoration of our country and our economic system. You need your own Glenn Beck/Mercury One business directory (which I can provide) and you need someone who can go out and talk to the Chamber of Commerce, the Networking Groups and the business owners all across the country and tell them that they have an option. Tell them that they are the key to the restoration of our country. Tell them that you want them to SUCCEED and tell them that you want to help.
I would like the opportunity to be Mercury's "Entrepreneurial George Washington". The website can be fitted to your needs but at least it is already built and basically ready to go. All I ask is the opportunity to fly myself to Dallas and make this presentation in person.
Leaders don't stand on the sidelines and wait for things to happen. They charge into the fray and lead by example, taking risks and enduring failure. They keep fighting because they know that if they never give up, someday they will succeed. I don't strive to succeed for personal fortune of fame. I strive to succeed because I had an idea. An idea that will help people just like me. The Entrepreneur. The Business Owner. The little guy who has put his blood, sweat and tears into something that he believes in and is willing to risk it all for just the chance of success.
I am the person who will help the Entrepreneur succeed. I am the person you need for the Entrepreneur and the Small Business Owner to reach the success that they are striving for.
Again, all I ask for is the chance to "Be George Washington", to be the "Entrepreneurial George Washington" that is the missing piece to your grand puzzle.
Thank You.
Sincerely and with great respect,
Bryan D. Sandberg
PS. Also, if Brian Sack doesn't work out, you won't have to change the name of the show!
